Autocar can admit that McLaren’s supercar project, long-delayed mid-engined, still remains the hope of the company. The first versions, so to say prototypes, are tested now in the United Kingdom. We can only guess what design and general look the car has. Of course, it continues the traditions of F1, and will have all the features of first-rate car, luxury, and high-performance.

The F2 has a prototype, this is the P8, the car which was supposed by McLaren to be built as a smaller and cheaper supercar with Mercedes. Jurgen Hubbert, Mercedes boss, admitted in 2004 that the company was “looking at a mid-engined road car”.
P8, unfortunately did not live long as the project. It was frozen the same year (2004). For the last time Mersedes felt something like quality problems in its mainstream models, engineering failings, etc.
McLaren hopes the F2 to be on top of the market.
