Hot competitions for leadership between BMW and Mercedes
Geneva Auto show surprised many participants. Two main competitors, BMW and Mercedes tried their best to be the first. That time, in March, the BMW took the dominate place. It was not easy, but the introduction of a new stop-start system able to reduce CO2 emissions. This time Mercedes is eager to take the return match. The only thing is to wait for something special.
What do Mercedes developers say themselves? “We will catch up and get ahead,” these words belong to Mr. Thomas Weber, the head of r&d at Mercedes parent DaimlerChrysler. Who will be leader now, the Bavarian or the German automaker? Mercedes is preparing some new start-stop system on its entire lineup. September will be the start for the A and B Class. This system works by shutting down the engine when the car stops. Then it and restarts when the driver lifts his foot off the brake. One more system will be used by the Mercedes. This is ISG system for larger models. This system is also aimed to reduce the vibration of the engine.
